With a state of emergency and wild fires all over Alberta not a lot of people expected that Canmore area would be absolutely clear of smoke yesterday. Tourist, or live in Calgary, – this hike is a must. It was closed for a while, and after maintenance the trail is very popular. I normally would come early to avoid crowds. Wasootch Peak is one of not too many hikes which are doable all year round. Small trailhead parking is on the left side of HW40 if you are coming from Calgary, about 200m before Mt.
